Cashless society: A huge threat to our freedom

Econgularity, shorthand for economic singularity, is an ugly word I created to describe an unfortunate approaching moment in time when our current technological snooping prowess, the ease of big data manipulation and our sprint to a cashless economy will converge. This will happen in such a way as to permit governments to exercise incredibly powerful control over all human behavior.

While this may sound like a paranoid doomsday scenario to some, as a real world finance professional, I believe that this scenario is not only eminently possible, but most of the technology is already available — albeit not yet fully marshaled — to frighteningly make it reality.

Technological advances have led to the creation of algorithms that can instantaneously review financial transactions, determining the nature, location and even the appropriateness of a purchase decision. These have been freely used by credit- and debit-card companies.

Cardholders already encounter this technology when they receive fraud alerts after a transaction that looks out of kilter with the particular consumer's normal purchasing patterns. The technologies can thus serve to protect consumers. That said, they have already been used to control consumer behavior. In 2010, Visa and MasterCard, bowed to government pressure — not even federal or state law — and banned all online-betting payments from their systems. This made it virtually impossible for these gambling sites to continue operating regardless of their jurisdiction or legality. It is not too far-fetched to wonder if the day might come when the health records of an overweight individual would lead to a situation in which they find that any sugary drink purchase they make through a credit or debit card is declined. Sounds far-fetched but maybe not so.

You might think then that the person can always pay cash and remain outside the purview of these technologies. This may be the case for the moment, but we are well on the road to becoming a cashless society. According to a MasterCard study, 80 percent of U.S. consumer transactions are electronic. In Sweden, one observer estimates that only 3 percent of transactions are made with currency. In fact, the decline in cash use has become so pronounced in Sweden that homeless beggars have been given card readers by Situation Stockholm to sell freely distributed newspapers and to receive alms, since potential donors no longer carry cash. Governments and central banks are also subtle supporters of a cashless society as there are indeed costs to producing currency and coins. Monetary policy could also be much more efficiently executed without currency circulating, since it would then be easy to implement negative interest-rate policies. But there is also a sinister risk to a cashless society.

It's medicine Jim, but not as we know it: Scientists build Star Trek-style tricorder that scans for signs of disease

Scanadu Scout uses the operating system Nasa uses in its Mars rover
To take a reading, the gadget is held on a person’s temple for 10 seconds

Sensors and a built-in microphone read a variety of vital health signs
This includes temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen levels and more
Full technical specifications have not been released, but a prototype is on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas

Imagine a world where a handheld gadget scans your body and diagnoses illnesses in seconds - reducing hospital visits and potentially saving your life.

It may sound like the work of science fiction but engineers in California have taken their lead from the Star Trek franchise and developed a real-life version of the show’s medical tricorder.

The Scanadu Scout can read a person’s temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and more, simply being held against their forehead.

False Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

World Bank Ex-Chief Economist Calls For Dollar To Be Replaced By ‘Super Currency’

The World Bank’s former chief economist wants to replace the US dollar with a single global super-currency, saying it will create a more stable global financial system.

“The dominance of the greenback is the root cause of global financial and economic crises,” Justin Yifu Lin told Bruegel, a Brussels-based policy-research think tank. “The solution to this is to replace the national currency with a global currency.”

Lin, now a professor at Peking University and a leading adviser to the Chinese government, said expanding the basket of major reserve currencies — the dollar, the euro, the Japanese yen and pound sterling — will not address the consequences of a financial crisis. Internationalizing the Chinese currency is not the answer, either, he said.

Lin urged the international community, especially the US and European Union, to play a leading role in currency and infrastructure initiatives. To boost the global economy, he proposed the launch of a “global infrastructure initiative” to remove development bottlenecks in poor and developing countries, a measure he said would also offer opportunities for advanced economies.

“China can only play a supporting role in realizing the plans,” Lin said. “The urgent thing is for the US and Europe to endorse these plans. And I think the G20 is an ideal platform to discuss the ideas,” he said, referring to the group of finance ministers and central bank governors from 20 major economies.

The concept of a global “super currency” tied to a basket of currencies has been periodically discussed by world leaders as well as endorsed by 2001 Nobel Memorial Prize-winner Joseph Stiglitz. A super currency could also be tied to a single currency, but the interconnectedness of world financial markets and concerns about the volatility that can occur as a result of the system being tied to one currency have made this idea less popular.

Eswar Prasad, a trade-policy professor at Cornell University who also is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said he disagrees that a super currency would protect the global financial system against breakdowns such as the 2008 downturn which plunged the world economy into its most dangerous crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

“Flexible exchange rates provide a useful shock absorption mechanism, especially for emerging market economies,” Prasaid, a former chief of financial studies in the International Monetary Fund’s research department, told China Daily on Tuesday. “More effective financial regulation and improved global governance, along with better fiscal and structural policies, would go much further than a single currency in enhancing global financial stability,” he said.

Arguments in favor of a global currency resurfaced during October’s US budget impasse, which forced the government to shut down.

“It is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanized world,” a Xinhua News Agency commentary said on Oct 14. The piece argued that creating a new international reserve currency to replace reliance on the greenback, would prevent government gridlock in Washington from affecting the rest of the world.

As I posted before, what is the OTHER hand doing?
The fate for a captive new human society is not being planned in DC, but in New York City - by the end of 2015.

The sovereignty of all nations will be swallowed whole in the United Nations Post-2015 Development Agenda, and thats only the beginning.
UN Agenda 21 - Death to you
A world with NO individual rights.  Publics schools have been teaching this to your kids for years!

Francis to unite all religions under Rome
June 2015
Pope Francis is here to make some drastic changes, creating the biblical One World Religion.
The bible, in Revelation 17 and 18, talks about a harlot church that rules the spiritual world. She is wealthy beyond description, and all the kings of the earth want to be in a spiritual bed with her.
This can only be one system, the Roman Catholic Church wealthy Vatican.

Pope Francis prayed to the devilgod of Islam, and held meetings with Joel Osteen and US Mormon Sinator Mike Lee.  I dont know if Osteen is a christian, but I KNOW Mormonism is antichrist.
Francis call for unity goes beyond the Christian community.

Salt Lake City first U.S. city to host Parliament of World Religions

The Beehive State will welcome the world’s largest and most historic interfaith gathering to Salt Lake City in 2015.

This is the first time in 22 years the Parliament of the Word’s Religions has voted to hold its conference in the United States.

“America is the home base of the interfaith movement, and it’s about time the Parliament come back home,” Parliament Chair Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid said in an announcement.

Reid Neilson, managing director of the LDS Church’s Historian Department, wrote his doctoral dissertation on the Parliament. Neilson pointed out the significance of the Parliament’s choice of Salt Lake City, the global center for the Church.

“This says the Church is being taken seriously,” Neilson said. “We are a global face and should be included in any major global conversation.”

Salt Lake City will host religious and spiritual leaders from around the globe at the Salt Lake Palace Convention Center Oct. 15–19,  2015.

“The world is no stranger to Salt Lake, and we are no stranger to the world,” said Scott Beck, president and CEO of the Visit Salt Lake company. “Salt Lake has hosted various international gatherings, including the 2002 Olympic Games and Rotary International. We are excited to again welcome a national and international audience to experience what Salt Lake has to offer, both physically and spiritually.”

First held in Chicago in 1893, the Parliament has convened every five years in a major international city since 1993. Its mission is to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world through cultivating religious harmony and global engagement.

“Parliament of the World’s Religions is not about uniting to create one religion, but we strive for something that is more achievable, that is, harmony between people of different faiths,” Mujahid said. “The Parliament is the largest summit of interfaith activists around the globe which provides listening, learning and sharing opportunities.”

The 2009 Parliament, held in Melbourne, Australia, attracted more than 10,000 attendees. The Parliament expects similar numbers for the 2015 conference, with representatives from 80 different countries. Previous Parliament guests include the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, President Jimmy Carter and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The conference will engage international religious representatives as well as the local faiths in the Salt Lake Area, including those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This is marked improvement from more than a century ago, when the Church was first allowed to represent itself at the 1893 Chicago World Fair but not at the Parliament’s Congress, held that same year.

“We feel that there is an extraordinary openness and desire on the part of the LDS Church to be a part of the multi-religious movement,” Mujahid said in a recent press conference. “We have been very thankful for their openness and hospitality.”

It is not known who will represent the LDS Church at the 2015 conference. LDS area authorities and BYU professor Fred Woods attended the Parliament conference in 2009. Perhaps Church leaders will attend the conference alongside other prominent worldwide religious leaders.

Beck is excited for Salt Lake City’s opportunity to host this historic interfaith gathering and hopes all those who attend will come away with a greater appreciation for the city and its community.

“Having the honor to again host thousands of people from dozens of countries representing scores of religions offers us, Salt Lake and the state of Utah, a fantastic opportunity to display our truly welcoming community,” Beck said. “Those attending the Parliament, I believe, will come away from their time in Utah with an appreciation of Salt Lake as a globally aware and service-minded community.”

Mauro Properzi, assistant professor of religion and world religions professor at BYU, said it is a great honor for Utah to host the Parliament.

“The gospel teaches us to love and respect people from all nations and religious perspectives as our brothers and sisters,” Properzi said. “Mutual understanding facilitates this process of brotherly care and cooperation without obscuring the obvious doctrinal differences that are key to our distinctive religious identities. If the Parliament of the World’s Religions has these objectives, then it is an honor for Utah and Salt Lake City to be able to host it.”

Microsoft leaps into 3D computing with Windows Holographic and HoloLens

"We're dreaming about holograms," said Alex Kipman of Microsoft, as he unveiled a new set of technologies that will bring 3D imaging and augmented reality to Windows. That's right: holograms—possibly the biggest surprise from Wednesday's the Windows 10 consumer preview unveiling.

'It's actually three technologies that will work together: Windows Holographic, which will enable 3D imaging in all future builds of Windows 10. Windows HoloLens, a headset for viewing and interacting with 3D images. And finally, the HoloStudio application will let you make your own holograms.

Microsoft teased the possibilities in a video: a HoloLens-wearing man played a 3D version of Minecraft. A HoloLens-wearing woman walking through an office, talking to a colleague on an image floating in front of her. Another user walked within a planetary scene. In a more everyday context, the weather report popped up on a family room rug, with 3D imaging augmenting the data.

The HoloLens itself is "the most advanced holographic computer the world has ever known," said Kipman. The headset will be completely wireless, with its own high-end CPU and GPU—and it will have a third chip, a Holographic Processing Unit, or HPU. (New anagram alert!)

"It will understand your gestures and voice," Kipman promised, "and spatially map the entire world around us." And unlike AR solutions we've seen up to now, the HoloLens will not need markers, external cameras, or a tethered phone or a PC to help it process the data—"terabytes of information from all of these sensors, all in real time," he described.

For the real-time demo of Windows Holographic and the HoloLens, a woman built a flying robot using a 3D "toolbox" that floated in her field of vision along with the object itself. She could pick items from the toolbox and apply them to the hologram, and move the hologram as she examined her work.

Finally, Kipman unveiled HoloStudio, an application for making your own holograms. (We're taking bets on who'll be first with their Princess Leia hologram imitation—"Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.")

Windows 10 may still be in preview, but adding holograms, 3D imaging, and augmented reality to the operating system pushes Windows way ahead of Mac OS X and Chrome OS, changing how people use computers in their daily lives. Stay tuned for our hands-on from the event.

Revelation 13:11  And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Rev 13:13  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
