Packages explode at Maryland state government buildings
06 January 2011
Two packages have exploded in Maryland state government buildings.
A government official tells WTOP one package was at the Jeffrey Building in Annapolis and another was at the Maryland Department of Transportation building in Hanover.
The official says no one was hurt in either incident, but the packages both gave off a small explosion or flare-up when they were opened.
State agencies have ceased all mail operations until hazardous materials crews can investigate.

Update: Building targeted has Homeland Security office, the Secretary of State and Veterans Affairs offices.
The Jeffrey Building in Annapolis houses the state Homeland Security office, the Secretary of State and VeteransAffairs offices and some divisions of the governor’s office, according to state property managers.

Maryland Close to Legalizing Gay Marriage
February 22, 2011
The Maryland State Senate could legalize gay marriage at anytime. Should that happen, the House of Delegates is expected to follow suit shortly thereafter. However, there are some who continue to fight to keep Maryland from becoming the sixth state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Maryland poised to become 8th US state to legalize gay marriage; opponents vow to fight
2/23/12  ANNAPOLIS
- Gay marriage was all but legalized in Maryland when the Legislature gave its final OK on Thursday to the law that is awaiting the expected signature of the governor.
The state Senate voted 25-22 for the law. The vote comes less than a week after the House of Delegates barely passed the measure.

Maryland will become the eighth state to allow gay marriage when Gov. Martin O'Malley — who sponsored the bill — signs the legislation.
Opponents, though, have vowed to bring the measure to referendum in November. They will need to gather at least 55,726 valid signatures of Maryland voters to put it on the ballot and can begin collecting names now that the bill has passed both chambers.

Senators rejected some amendments to the legislation Thursday. Proponents warned that amending the bill could kill it because gathering enough support for altered legislation in the House would be difficult.
Last year senators passed a similar measure by 25-21, but the bill died in the House after delegates rescinded their initial support citing concerns that it could violate religious liberties of churches and business owners who do not support same-sex unions.

Maryland gay marriage bill signed into law
March 1, 2012
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley signed the state's gay marriage bill into law Thursday evening, capping off a month of big state-level wins for the gay rights movement around the country.
"We're in a much more pro-active place," Michael Cole-Schwartz of the Human Rights Campaign, the country's largest LGBT advocacy and lobbying outfit, tells Yahoo News. "We've been able to achieve marriage equality in more places, and at the same time we've seen the public support go up and up."

In February, legislators in Maryland, Washington and New Jersey voted to allow gay couples to marry, though Gov. Chris Christie vetoed the New Jersey bill. The wins follow June's New York same-sex marriage law, the first such bill to pass a Republican-controlled chamber.

The win in New York was partly due to a different gay marriage strategy: identifying vulnerable lawmakers who are anti-gay marriage and then supporting their opponents in small-fry state races. Denver-area philanthropist Tim Gill used the Gill Action Fund to pump nearly $800,000 into a group called "Fight Back New York" to defeat four lawmakers who voted against gay marriage in 2009 and were shown to be the most vulnerable in polling. It worked. In October, the four Republican New York senators who broke with their party to vote for gay marriage in June were rewarded with a $1 million fundraiser, attended by Gill and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Debate Over License Plate Readers Grows In Maryland
15 Nov 2012
A wild chase down Interstate 95 ends with a crash. Police got on the trail of the stolen car using controversial technology increasing across Maryland.
These days cameras are everywhere, but some do more than watch–they automatically run criminal records.
At the height of Tuesday’s rush hour, police chased a New Jersey car thief–alerted when he raced through the Fort McHenry Tunnel.

“Set off an automatic sensor that detected the plates were on a stolen vehicle,” said Captain Jeff Long, Sky Eye Chopper 13.
Those sensors are called automatic license plate readers, or LPR’s. WJZ got an exclusive look at how they work.
“We’re looking for this Mercedes,” said Lt. Hartman.

This is PSEUDOMARRIAGE - NOT anything GOD recognizes.
In fact HE damns it

November 8, 2012   Opponents of the same-sex marriage referendum on the ballot in Washington state conceded the race, marking a full slate of victories for gay rights on Election Night. Same-sex marriage was legalized by popular vote for the first time in our nation's history in not one, but all three states where it was on the ballot: Maine, Maryland and Washington. In Minnesota, a proposed ban on same-sex marriage that would have defined marriage as between one man and one woman in the state's constitution was defeated.

Tuesday's victories mark more than just a win for the gay rights movement; they represent a larger demographic shift in our country. In an election year where the president made history by publicly announcing his support for same-sex marriage - becoming the first sitting president to do so - the results in Maine, Maryland, Washington and Minnesota appear to be another sign of this increased acceptance.

This year, national polling has shown historical highs for same-sex marriage support. An ABC News/Washington Post poll released in May 2012, shortly after President Obama announced his support in an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, showed 53 percent of Americans believe gay marriage should be legal and 36 percent say they "strongly" support it. Thirty-two percent say they were "strongly opposed." It marks the first time strong sentiment tilted positive in ABC/Washington Post polling on the issue.

Several other polls released in the spring and summer showed a plurality of support for same-sex marriage in the country as well. A CNN/ORC poll released in June showed 54 percent of Americans support the legalization of same-sex marriage. A Gallup poll taken in May showed 50 percent of Americans supporting it, and an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll in May showed that 54 percent of Americans would support legalizing same-sex marriage in their state.

The reason for the increasing acceptance of gay marriage is likely linked to an increased exposure to gay people. The ABC/Washington Post taken in May found that 71 percent of Americans have a family member, friend or acquaintance who is openly gay - a strong majority, and a jump from 58 percent in 1998. The increased exposure can best be seen in the attitudes of young people.

"To young people, being gay is like being left-handed - they don't get what the big deal is," ABC's George Will said on Election Night.

Currently there appears to be a deep partisan divide on the issue, with Republicans generally opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage and Democrats generally in favor. This divide was highlighted in the exit polls from Maine, Maryland and Washington on Tuesday.

In Maine, 81 percent of those who voted in favor of same-sex marriage also voted for President Obama while 69 percent of those who voted "no" went for Romney. In Washington the breakdown was similar: 85 percent of those who voted to approve same-sex marriage voted for Obama, while 74 percent of those who voted to reject the measure voted for Romney. In Maryland 78 percent of the "yes" vote was for Obama, 55 percent of the "no" vote was for Romney.

But if the trend continues - if same-sex marriage support continues to grow and more states continue to legalize it - the Republican party will need to do some soul-searching, so to speak, on the issue. Voters 18 to 29 only made up 19 percent of the voting block in 2012, and for all the talk about how the youth vote propelled Obama in 2008, they only made up 18 percent of voters that year. But if one thing is certain, it's that younger people will grow up, and as that happens, they'll begin to account for a larger share of the voting block - one neither party can afford to lose.

Chris discusses a recent show he did with Brannon Howse at World View Weekend concerning family discussions during the holiday, and how the issue of Christianity in the world was handled. Also discussed is the opinion of the youth in our country -- have they been brainwashed by Marxist philosophies sown into our education system? Have our youth become the Manchurian candidates of tomorrow?

Smile    Nina Pham
October 21, 2014
Nina Pham's clinical status has been upgraded from fair to good at NIH.
Nina Pham (nurse 1) became the first person to contract EBOLA in the United States.  Pham’s boyfriend became a topic of interest as a potential second Ebola patient, and some believed that when a second patient was reported that it was him.
But apart from a report saying that the boyfriend was quarantined with Ebola-like symptoms, there’s been scant information.  Neither his name nor any identifying information such as pictures or social media information has been officially announced or leaked.  The boyfriends of the two Ebola nurses have remained shrouded in secrecy, with their identities concealed and updates on their conditions practically nonexistent.
