Israeli govt approves gas deal
August 17, 2015
-  Deal will increase the amount of natural gas produced by Tamar field, and enable quick development of other fields.  After years of bickering and haggling, the government approved the outline for development of offshore natural gas fields.  The deal that will be signed with private developers will make possible the quick development of gas fields Leviathan, Karish and Tanin, among others.

The deal, which has undergone considerable modification since negotiations began, will allow Noble Gas and Israeli Delek Group to keep ownership of Leviathan but require the sale of other assets, including stakes in the Tamar deposit.  It sets a price ceiling for gas sales to Israeli companies and commits the consortium to invest $1.5B into developing Leviathan over the next two years. The huge field contains about 22T cf of gas, and is expected to provide billions of dollars in revenue to Israel.

Huge gas discovery off Egypt coast
August 30, 2015
-  Italian energy group Eni found large natural gas fields off Egypt's coast.  Zohr field could become one of the world's largest natural-gas finds and help meet Egypt's gas needs for decades.
Eni has full concession rights to the area. In June it signed an energy exploration deal with Egypt to explore in Sinai, the Gulf of Suez, the Mediterranean and areas in the Nile Delta.
This follows other gas discoveries in the Mediterranean including by Israel.

IAFdefense of gas fields in Mediterranean
September 2, 2015
-  The Israeli Navy staged a defensive exercise, which centered on silently driving off the terrorists who had captured a Mediterranean gas field, off Israeli port of Ashkelon. The weapons used exposed part of the IDF capabilities. The key is intelligence, early warning of enemy plans.

Russia protect Israeli gas?
Sept 13, 2015 -
Putin offers to shield, develop Israeli gas fields.
Russian President Vladimir proposed Moscow undertake responsibility for guarding Israelís Mediterranean gas fields, along with the offer of a Russian investment of $7-10 billion for developing Leviathan and building a pipeline to Turkey for exporting the gas to Europe.  But Putin did not share with Netanyahu his plans for the buildup of Russian warships and missiles in Syria.

A multibillion Russian investment in the field would make it a Russian project, which neither Syria nor Hizballah would dare attack, even though it belongs to Israel.
An Israeli deal with Moscow would be dangerous for Israel.
Dont trust Russia!

Russian military presence in Syria seriously inhibits Israelís flexibility for launching military action against Iranian or Hizballah targets when needed.
Israelís military strength is substantial but no one is looking for a military clash with the Russians.

Israel oil
October 8, 2015  Haifa, Israel
-  Massive oil reserves have been located in the Israel Golan Heights, close to the Syria border.  A license to drill in the area was issued in April 2013.  The oil feed is close proximity to the fighting in Syria.  The main site is near Katzrin, northeast of Lake Kinnaret - the Sea of Galilee.  The land was captured from Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War - which Syria started - and still under dispute.

Afek Oil and Gas is an Israeli subsidiary of the U.S. company Genie Energy.
Investors, Dick Cheney, Jacob Rothschild, and Rupert Murdoch.
Zion Oil and Gas have sought oil there for years, based on Deuteronomy 33:24
Its not impossible Russia knows there is oil there, and THAT is why they are there.

Israel gas deal
Nov 29, 2015
-  Israelis upset over government approval of contested gas agreement.
Govt to bypass anti-trust regulations in order to approve a gas deal with US energy giant Noble Energy.  Israel would give an international consortium led by the Delek and Noble Energy companies the rights to the Leviathan field, the largest gas reserve in Israeli territorial waters, in exchange for scaling back their involvement in Tamar, Tanin and Karish fields.
Leviathan is considered a gold mine for Israel.

Question   Turkish-Israeli thaw
Dec 19, 2015
-  Turkey, largely dependent on imports for its energy needs, seeks new sources of natural gas after Turkey foolishly shot down Russian aircraft.  Normalization of relations may speed up plans to export Israeli natural gas.  Expectations that Turkey and Israel will restore relations after a five-year-old rift have raised hopes of speedy progress in talks to import Israeli natural gas, potentially a multi-billion-dollar project.

Plans afoot to build a pipeline and import natural gas from Israel's Leviathan field in the eastern Mediterranean.  The expected agreement, which has yet to be concluded, gives us a heavy limitation on Hamas activity in Turkey.

Egypt rejects natural gas deal with Israel
Dec 25, 2015
 -  Cairo bans Egyptian companies from natural gas deal with Israel.
Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail banned local gas companies from importing natural gas from Israel.  Ismail also banned all further discussion on the issue.

Ismail's response may be based on an ICC ruling demanding that 2 Egyptian gas companies pay Israeli Electric Company for damages incurred as a result of failures to transfer gas from Egypt to Israel.

In 2011, Egyptian gas companies stopped providing gas to Israel due to a series of Sinai pipeline bombings. The terrorist bombings caused the IEC to turn to more expensive fuels to make up for the loss, and increased the price of electricity to the general public by 30% to make up for costs.
