Powerful earthquake rattles large swath of Alaska
9/23/14

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A powerful earthquake shook up a large swath of Alaska on Thursday morning, including the state's largest city.

The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, and hit at 9:51 a.m. The epicenter was 80 miles northwest of Anchorage, where it was strongly felt, and lingered for at least one minute, the Alaska Earthquake Center said.

Residents of Anchorage ducked under desks and tables as the ground shook. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury, and no tsunami was expected. The shaking was felt as far as 250 miles northeast of the epicenter.

Debra Pearce, who works for Alaska Auction Company, said she has lived in Alaska for years and that this was the strongest quake she felt since a 1964 temblor.

That earthquake - a magnitude 9.2 - was the second-highest magnitude ever recorded, and the quake and resulting tsunamis killed 131 people.

Alaska Cleveland volcano
June 18, 2015
-  Alaska Cleveland volcano renewed unrest.
Alaska’s remote Cleveland volcano is growing restless again. Satellite images have detected elevated surface temperatures on Cleveland’s summit.   Aviation code is yellow. The increased temperatures are consistent with renewed growth of the small lava dome within the summit crater, and the possibility of sudden explosions has increased.

5.8 earthquake Alaska
NW of Vancouver, Canada NW of Anchorage, United States
June 24, 2015
 by Michael Janitch  -
Coast of Alaska hit by M5.7 Earthquake — Forecast to occur / Area hit as expected
A noteworthy magnitude 5.7 earthquake has struck along the shores of Alaska.
After a period of lesser earthquake activity spanning weeks (only measuring in the 3.0 – 4.0 range) now we see the expected larger seismic activity strike the area which was warned.
June 22 the coast of Alaska was warned for larger earthquake activity to return.

ALASKA volcanoes
June 25, 2015 -  Alert level for Cleveland raised to ‘advisory
.’  The aviation color code has also been set to yellow.  Elevated surface temperatures in the summit crater at Cleveland Volcano,.  Some of the radar images that we have suggested new lava.

Mt. Shishaldin volcano occasional emits small amounts of ash.
It has a very deep summit crater and down in the bottom there’s activity going on. We believe that there’s active magma pooling deep inside that summit crater.
The alert level there is currently set to ‘watch.’ The aviation color code is orange.

Cleveland Volcano
6.9 earthquake Fox islands, Aleutians, Alaska
July 27, 2015
-  The 6.9 earthquake SW of Nikolski, Alaska, Fox islands, Aleutians, NW of Vancouver, Canada.

Michael Janitch reported there were 2 quakes of 6.9 near Cleveland Volcano in Alaska / Aleutian Islands.  Listed originally as a rare double earthquake, this earthquake measured in at M6.9 with a depth of 11.9km.

The location of the Earthquake is just 30 miles from Cleveland volcanic complex.  Cleveland volcano has recently sent off a few ash plumes, thus this earthquake might be the sign of a coming larger eruption in the area.

The epicenter of the tremor on Monday was 76 km southeast of Yunaska Island, the largest island in a group in the chain of volcanic Aleutian Islands that stretch across the northern Pacific from the US to Russia, the report said.
The quake struck at a depth estimated to be 11.9 km. No tsunami alert was issued following the quake.

Alaska Aleutians earthquake swarm ( 5.7 )
September 5, 2015
Michael Janitch -  Major volcanic earthquake swarm strikes Atka Volcanic Center in Alaska Aleutian Islands.  A large earthquake swarm is going on in Alaska in the Central Aleutian islands near the Atka Volcanic Center.  5.7 magnitude is the largest so far, with dozens of other M4.0 - M5.0 earthquakes all off Atka island.

The earthquake swarm could sign a coming eruption.  Atka Volcano hasn’t erupted since 1995.  The Atka Volcanic Complex consists of multiple volcanoes , including Korovin Volcano, Mount Atka, Mount Sergief, Mount Koniuji, and Kasatochi Volcano.

This volcanic swarm comes on the heels of an earthquake Sept. 3 which shook near Mount Saint Helens.

Next week, the UN is likely to implement a Palestinean state(this time the USA will likely vote yes).

Prior to 9/11, there was a land for peace deal.

Prior to Katrina, there was a land for peace deal.

If this happens at the UN, the ones prior are more or less PEANUTS compared!

BTW - I remember reading years ago(in early 2001) that FEMA anticipated a terrorist attack on the East Coast, a Category 5 Hurricane wiping out a Gulf Coast city, and a massive EQ on the West Coast.

Well, so far 2/3 happened.

If/when this occurs, visionaries expect GOD will split USA in half along the New Madrid fault (Mississippi River), leaving an expanse too wide to bridge.  It will be a catastrophe.

Alaska, jolted
An earthquake knocked items off shelves and walls in south-central Alaska and jolted the nerves of residents, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.  The earthquake struck about 1:30 am Alaska time and was centered 53 miles west of Anchor Point in the Kenai Peninsula, 160 miles southwest of Anchorage.  About 2 hours later, an aftershock hit the Cook Inlet.
The possibility of a gas leak led to the evacuation of more than a dozen homes in Kenai.

COMMENTS
- Just had a 7.1 earthquake hit 176 miles south of Anchorage. Yikes.
Wife and I thought the house was going to collapse.

- 200 miles north of it and it shook the house for at least 30 seconds, the strongest one i have ever felt in 23 years here near Wasilla

I had just got home from the late session of Bingo in Wasilla, wasn’t in the door but two minutes when it hit, grabbed the big tv to make sure it didn’t fall over, going to bed now, but keeping flashlight near.
