The Great Commission - a debate

January 2014
yashua1970 post

It's about time he's (Ariel Sharon) dead. Maybe there is a special place for him in Hell where he's suffering in endless agony. I sure hope so cause He deserves all the torture that comes his way. Oops I almost forgot. Father forgive him for he knows "not" what he did "while" he was in a so called coma. I'm sorry I'm just being mean at the Old murderer. As Jesus did say "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched" I guess I could not be more blunt than the King.

CJ replied
Those who are against Israel curse themselves.
They are God's people.  No as a nation they do not obey His law - but neither does USA - or Lebanon.

Israel was attacked from Lebanon, and had to re-take the high grounds for self-protection.
You need to be fair and wise - for YOUR good.
God is with Israel.
I thot he was a Muslim.

The Great Commission Matthew 28
16  Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
17  And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
18  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

19  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inb the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Here is an interesting debate wrongly posted on Ariel Sharon thread in MIDEAST NEWS.
It did not belong there so I moved it to chapel.
This shows you how twisted people's thinking is

Beware of this replacement theology heresy, FYI.
God is not done with Israel. The Daniel 9:27 prophecy will largely focus on Israel.

1Chronicles 16:15  Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
1Ch 16:16  Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
1Ch 16:17  And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
1Ch 16:18  Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

John 4:22  Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Romans 11:25  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Rom 11:26  And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Rom 11:27  For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Luke 1:68  Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
Luk 1:69  And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
Luk 1:70  As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
Luk 1:71  That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
Luk 1:72  To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
Luk 1:73  The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

Luke 1:76  And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
Luk 1:77  To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Luk 1:78  Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
Luk 1:79  To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Acts 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Act 4:11  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 13:26  Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

I am not a Muslim in any way shape or form. I am a Native American Indian. Enemy of God? Maybe according to your ideology, but not according to God. I take it you are a Christian Zionist. I am not and would not support a political organization whose goal has been to exterminate and remove people from their homeland. He will forever be remembered in Lebanon as the “Butcher of Beirut” for his role as defense minister in the 1982 invasion which killed an estimated 20,000 people that year alone, the overwhelming majority of them civilians. Jesus is the lion still. Sharon was a military leader. Not a peace maker. I don't see how people make him such a valiant person. He was not. He was a Zionist Extremist. He devoted his military and political career to working for a Greater Israel. He believed mass slaughter and destruction further it. Sharon was an unapologetic war criminal. His legacy reflects
decades of mass slaughter, destruction and human misery. Was he a Christian? Not by any means. Again sorry to have offended you. If you think that God has a favorite land, and favorite people then you believe in a different God. Jesus came to re-establish contact for an express reason, which was NOT the salvation of the House of Israel. It was so that they could continue their God-given task of informing the rest of the world about His coming Kingdom. You'll note that Jesus didn't preach salvation. He preached the kingdom of God. Look it up.

God's purpose for the Israelites, all twelve tribes, is to get the word of His kingdom out to the rest of the world. The Jews fumbled the ball and became a "closed" society. They were never initiatory in disclosing God to those around them. They didn't sent out missionaries as did England, the US and other European nations.

Those nations have been recognized by the rest of the world as people who profess the God of the bible. They have become what Hosea said they would, "known as the sons of the living God."

Just a question but why would God be for a specific place, and a people when God has created "All" things, and "All" lands. Is God a respecter of people, and specific areas? The Jews generally rejected Jesus, the true Messiah, therefore Jesus cursed the fig tree, which represents Israel, saying, "May you never bear fruit again!" Mat. 21:18

When the Jewish chief priests and elders questioned Jesus' authority He said to them, "I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people [Gentiles] who will produce its fruit" (Mat. 21:43). This is in the very same bible that you read correct? "He will come and destroy these vine-growers [Jews] and will give the vineyard to others [Gentiles]." Look, your house is left to you desolate. Mat. 23:37-38  . I wonder why Christians seem to forget about what Christ, and others have stated in the "New Testament." That is why there was a "New Covenant" The Old had passed away because of Christ God divorced the Jews due to Israels infidelity towards God, and due to the Priests of God. The very ones who were deemed worthy enough to speak for God, but they did not. They lied and deceived their own. "Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, [only] a remnant shall be saved."  'God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you'" (Rom. 2:23-24).  Why would you think that Ariel Sharon was any kind of spokesman for Jesus Christ. He did not believe in Christ period. He was a political soldier fighting for Zionist ideology, not promoting Christian values, or it's belief to promote piece among "All" people. Those who take up the sword shall also perish by the sword. The difference is Sharon was protected by an extremist organization who was, and still is one of the most violent movements in our history. They do not support Jesus Christ in any way whatsoever. I am correct in my statements, and can prove this to you all day long If you like "Pastor"

The word “pastor” doesn’t occur in the New Testament (KJV, NIV, NASK, NRSB) at all. The word “pastors” occurs ONCE in the N.T. in Ephesians 4:11 and NOT as a title. “Thus you have made the commandments of God of no effect by your tradition. Hypocrites! Well, did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” Second. Another thing that does not make sense is Christian Zionists supporting Israeli hostilities toward the Palestinians. Yes, God blesses those who bless Israel. But not everything Israel currently does blesses God. Israel as a nation is hardly seeking the blessing of the Palestinians. According to God’s first promise to Abraham, all peoples will be blessed through Isaac’s seed, not cursed ( Genesis 12:1-3). Moreover, Arabs are descendants of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom God also blesses Genesis 17:19-21, Genesis 21:13, 17-18

Furthermore, many Palestinians are Christians, a point often lost on many Christian Zionists (Don Belt, “The Forgotten Faithful: Arab Christians,” in National Geographic, vol. 215, no. 6, June 2009). Those who believe in Jesus are sons and daughters of God, irrespective of their people group. In Galatians 3:28, we are told that in Christ there is no division between Jews and Gentiles as a result of Christ’s atoning work. As a result, all who believe in Jesus are children of the free woman of whom Paul speaks (Galatians 4:21–31), not just the descendants of Isaac who believe. As much as we should be concerned for all people and all Arabs, for all are blessed by God, our concern should be heightened for those who are fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus. I hope this can give you insight into what you profess about Jesus Christ who is the Lord of "All people"

Here is Mark’s summary of the core of Jesus’ message. It is, in a nutshell: The kingdom of God has come near.

The phrase “kingdom of God” appears 53 times in the New Testament Gospels, almost always on the lips of Jesus. The synonymous phrase, “kingdom of heaven,” appears 32 times in the Gospel of Matthew. Throughout the accounts of Jesus’ ministry, he is always talking about the kingdom of God. Many of his parables explain something about this kingdom: it is like mustard seed, a treasure, a merchant looking for pearls, and a king who gave a banquet (Matt 13:44-47; 22:2). Jesus even defines his purpose in light of the kingdom: “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose” (Luke 4:43).  Gordon Fee, one of the wisest of evangelical New Testament scholars, once said in a lecture on Jesus: “You cannot know anything about Jesus, anything, if you miss the kingdom of God . . . . You are zero on Jesus if you don’t understand this term. I’m sorry to say it that strongly, but this is the great failure of evangelical Christianity. We have had Jesus without the kingdom of God, and therefore have literally done Jesus in.” You know nothing except what the preacher has taught you. It is not salvation, yet what are you being saved from? The wrath of God? If so the price "was" paid. It is as Jesus proclaimed. The "Kingdom of God" is what is the core message in the New Testament is all about. Why do you think the Jews had him killed? It wasn't because he came to proclaim salvation. It was because he came to proclaim the Kingdom of God.

There is, however, a two-fold commission in teaching the Gospel of Christ:

  "...that he [the elders] may be able to [1] entreat with sound teaching as well as to [2] expose those who contradict" (Titus 1:9, Concordant NT).
You contradict the teaching's of Christ "Pastor" and "Born again 2" You have not even attempted to defend Ariel Sharon who was a mass murderer have you. Born again 2 say's "I'm not one of these "Christian Zionists", but let's not throw the baby out of the bathwater." There is no place in the Holy bible that deems that you as a Christian should support an affiliation called Zionism is there? If so bring it to all of our attention? We are waiting. Pastor If you can direct your sheep to the place in the bible where it declares you as a "Pastor" over them it sure would be nice, or are you just one of these ignorant people who "think" they actually know what the bible say's? If so I would love to publicly debate you on "any" subject right here on "your" little forum about any subject matter concerning the Holy Bible. Do you CJ believe that Ariel Sharon believed in Jesus Christ? Was he a born again Christian? The Bible states that unless one is "Born Again" that they cannot even enter the "Kingdom of God" It does not state that If Your a "Jew" you will enter does it? It states unless one is born of the spirit, they shall not enter the Kingdom of God. Is Ariel Sharon in Gods Kingdom just because he was a "Jew" (Actually a Ashkenazi Jew. A race of people from Asia) You have read your history right? The real homeland for the white, Ashkenazi Jews is near the Caspian and Black Seas, not Palestine. Their ancestors picked up the Jewish religion many centuries ago. Due to the widespread ignorance of people in that era, after a few generations they assumed that they were the descendants of the Jews that lived in Palestine. Are they still God's "Chosen people" or does the bible bear witness to what is stated "Those who call themselves Jews are not" But are of the synagogue of Satan (the accuser) The original Hebrew term, satan, is a noun from a verb meaning primarily to, “obstruct, oppose,” But of course since you are a "Pastor" you should know these things. I shall be waiting on your knowledge of the sacred texts.

2 Peter 3:14-16
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Jude 1:3  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Rev 7:9  After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Rev 7:10  And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

Hebrews 2:2  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
Heb 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Hebrews 5:7  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

Tit 2:12  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Tit 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

2Timothy 3:15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

1Thes 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Th 5:10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Isaiah 11
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

In Mark 16:15-18 we have recorded the last words of Jesus before He went back to His Father in Heaven. He was speaking to His disciples that He had trained, and gave them what we call The Great Commission; the taking of the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ into all the world with evidences that Jesus is alive from the dead!

If you look at verses 11-14 of Mark 16 you will see the heart condition of Jesus’ disciples at that time. It was not very good. They could not comprehend the fact that Jesus had risen from the dead and had allowed doubt, unbelief and hardness of heart to enter into them. It was so bad that Jesus had to rebuke (“upbraid, to reproach, chide” – Bullinger’s) them for their unbelief and hardness of heart. But they were all He had! Jesus did not have a “Plan B.” Had He over-estimated those men He had called to walk with Him? It looked that way. But Jesus had confidence in the men He had chosen to equip to take the most important Message in all history to all of mankind. He commissioned them to take the Gospel to the whole world. Then Jesus departed while those disciples were left to decide what they would do. Would they believe Jesus, or would they continue to languish in their unbelief and hardness of heart? Verses 19-20 tell us that after Jesus departed they made a positive decision to go and do what Jesus had told them to! Something had to happen in their lives in order to activate them into being obedient to the word of Jesus. They experienced the day of Pentecost. They were the ones who went to the upper room and waited for the Promised Holy Spirit to come and indwell their lives.

·         And He came!
·         And they were filled!
·         And they began to speak in other tongues and prophesy!
·         And they were changed!
·         Transformed!

·         Their unbelief and hardness of heart was changed into a positive burning, believing and consuming fire that burned up their unbelief and hardness of heart, and sent them forth to obey the commands of Jesus Christ their Master!

The Bible declares: “They went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” (Mark 16:20).

What conquered their unbelief?

that inspired them to believe and OBEY the words of Jesus! They experienced in reality the promise of God to them! Their lives were positively changed to the glory of God!

For Christians, our believing must be based on the words of Jesus. Everything else should take second place to what He says. Before their Pentecost experience those disciples of Jesus struggled to accept the most basic fact of why Jesus came to die and be raised from the dead (see 1 Corinthians 15). Their being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit caused them to know that JESUS IS ALIVE! Their unbelief was unfounded. Jesus had risen ~ in spite of their not believing it!

What conquers our unbelief?

It is our believing that whatever Jesus says is absolutely true and correct (He cannot lie). What He says comes before everything else and every other voice we may hear.

To believe what He says means that we have to demonstrate to Him that we do believe what He says by our being obedient to what He says and asks of us.

If we do not believe, we do nothing. But when we do believe Him, we have a responsibility to activate the word He speaks by our faith and obedience. It is the action part that releases God to fulfil whatever He has asked of us. Unbelief grows when we do nothing! Be encouraged to take that step of faith and do whatever Jesus asks of you (see John 2:5). It is not always logical, but it is right. We have to learn that the more we can submit to what Jesus says, the sooner we will be able to do our part in fulfilling The Great Commission. Remember it is to believers that Jesus is speaking to. Believers do what Jesus says for us to do! Right now, ask yourself: “How active am I in doing what I know Jesus has asked me to do?” When we put faith and obedience before everything else, we will be amazed at how God will supply our needs to do what He asks of us. And He never asks us to do anything we cannot do. We may not have done it before, but it can be done! God bless you, BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST! ~ Rodney W. Francis.

Bible Reading:    Mark 16:9-20  1 Corinthians 15:1-28  Hebrews 4.

Prayer: “Dear Lord God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and I ask You to help me to break free from every form of doubt and unbelief that comes between You and me. I ask You to help me to have a much bigger believing heart so that I can demonstrate my faith and belief in You much more positively. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
