Saudi Arabia War for the throne January 2015

Believe it or not, as you wish.  Most is from radio, personal and my notes, no links.
I believe France attacks were scripted - beyond that I just dont know.
The past 3 years what I have seen of Prince Salman is mostly good.
Info from various sources, radio, DEBKA links dont last long.

ABC  =  Always Be Cautious
Mideast news is always iffy at best.  If its true Salman has dementia - and that is an IF, the other princes are fighting for the throne and NOTHING can be trusted.  I fear ISIS will take Arabia.

January 2015
Saudi Arabia WARNED France before the Paris attack.

Saudi Crown Prince Salman warned French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian of the impending ISIS attack on Charlie Hebdo, but Paris authorities failed to act.
WHY?  They WANTED the attack?  Possible.

Evil Crown Prince Muqruin
Is he allied with ISIS / MB - or not?

Crown Prince Salman is new Saudi king
January 23, 2015
-  Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has died, and Crown Prince Salman became king. He was 90.
King Salman has called on the family’s Allegiance Council to pay allegiance to Muqrin as his crown prince and heir.

King Abdullah ascended the throne on Aug. 1, 2005, following the death of King Fahd. During his reign, King Abdullah has been responsible for significant social, economic, cultural and political reforms. This includes empowering women politically, granting foreign scholarships to thousands of students, building economic cities and constructing specialized hospitals.

A crisis has developed in the Arabian Peninsula as the King’s health was failing,
and Saudi foreign policy was paralyzed - creating opportunity for
Evil or Very Mad  Crown Prince Muqrin to use his military and intelligence experience to re-establish Saudi dominance in a critical part of the world.

The threat of an Iranian supported base in the port city of Aden along with radical Islamists controlling Somalia would present the threat of a choke-hold on all commerce wishing to transit the Red Sea and Suez Canal.

Yemen is strategic to Saudi pride as losing it to Iran influence is a major strategic loss and affront to the Sunni/Wahhabi banner. Thus the element of tribalism along with the long standing animosity between the two sects of Islam presents an opportunity for the future King of Saudi Arabia to demonstrate that the power of the Kingdom is intact and influence over the United States still powerful enough to force assistance from the lame duck president via a military intervention to prevent the loss of this region.

The Saudi Succession, impact on oil, markets and politics
Saudi Arabia announced that its 91-year-old King Abdullah had passed away, maybe triggering a Saudi succession fight which impacts everything from oil, to markets to geopolitics, especially in the aftermath of the dramatic political coup in neighboring Yemen.

US invasion of Yemen is only weeks away
Once Yemen falls, there is a proverbial line in the sand challenging Saudi dominance in the area and it creates a hornet’s nest of Islamist radicalism potentially obstructing commercial traffic into the Red Sea and Suez Canal.  If Saudi Arabia does not intervene militarily in Yemen and Sanaa falls, it would mean a direct threat to US influence in the region and perhaps a larger regional war erupting.

King Abdullah was a good king - by mideast dictator standards.
Crown Prince Muqrin has appeared to me to be the bad guy.
King Salman has dementia.
NOT looking good in Arabia.

Saudi King Salman
January 23, 2015
-  Considered a moderate, Salman is expected to maintain the kingdom's policies regarding Israel, keeping in line with moderate Sunni Gulf states, he is expected to support the Palestinians and back Palestinian President Abbas while promoting the Saudi peace plan, which includes a regional deal between Arab nations and Israel as part of a local peace agreement.

Israeli presidents Rivlin, Peres praise Saudi king Abdullah for peace efforts, as kingdom mourns.
Saudi Arabia will bury King Abdullah in an unmarked grave on Friday.  King Abdullah acted as a moderator, respecting the sensitivity of Jerusalem and sought to promote a vision of prosperity for the region.,7340,L-4618404,00.html

Sisi flies to Arabia
January 23, 2015
-  Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will leave the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to travel to Saudi Arabia and pay his respects.
Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has died in hospital while undergoing treatment for pneumonia. An official statement has named Saudi Crown Prince Salman the new king.
Saudi television cut to Koranic verses early on Friday – a practice known to signify the death of a senior royal.
Abdullah had approximately a dozen wives and was a father to more than 30 children.

Oil spikes after Saudi king's death
Oil prices jumped after the news of the death of King Abdullah.
Futures in New York and London rose by 3.1 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively.
In early Asian trading, US benchmark WTI crude futures increased by over 2 percent, reaching $47.76 per barrel. At the time of publication, oil futures for March were edging closer to $50 per barrel – at $49.3 per barrel.

Smile  New Saudi King Salman
January 24, 2015
-  In his first speech as monarch, the new Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz pledged continuity for the kingdom’s oil and other policies.  King Salman moved quickly to name his half-brother Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, 55, Deputy Crown Prince, placing him second in line to the throne after Prince Muqrin.

Abdullah was largely responsible for oil prices plummeting 50% during 2014.
He led OPEC in refusing to cut production in order to boost prices. King Salman will have to show he can stand up to heavy arm-twisting by Iran and Russia.

King Salman had more than stability in mind appointing Mohammed bin Nayef.
Salman and Mohammed are Sudeiris, whereas Muqrin, like Abdullah before him, is not.

King Salman’s son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as defense minister.
Salman’s son has impressed Gulf sources as one of the most ambitious princes in the top level of the royal hierarchy.
Mohammed bin Salman is special adviser to the king.
bin Salman is therefore expected to be a powerful wire-puller in state affairs under his father, his leverage gaining as the king’s health declines.

Saudi King show of strength
Khalid al-Tuwaijri, Abdullah bodyguard was dismissed.

Stability and continuity are vital messages for King Salman and his government to project.
Hours before Abdullah died, the presidential palace in Sanaa Yemen was seized by Shiite Houthi rebels in a coup backed by Iran. The Yemen president who was supported by Riyadh resigned, leaving the Houthis a convenient base for launching terror against Saudi Arabia from its southern border.

From the north, Arabia menace is ISIS.
In December Saudi-born adherents of ISIS attacked the northern town of Arar near the Iraqi border and killed 4 of the border guard.
The big trouble looming over all these perils is a potentially nuclear-armed Iran.

Abdullah dealt harshly with dissidents, but he also doled out funds lavishly to avert unrest at home.
The new king must come to grips with restive young people, many of whom are drawn to the radical Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS, including radical members of the Saudi clergy.  Crown Prince Muqruin may well be allied with ISIS/MB.
With my edits - a good article.

WHO is the real Saudi King Salman - or his son?  Either way its Salman.
King Salman does NOT appear to have dementia -
unless he is obeying his advisors, always a possibility.
My gut always felt the dementia was a ruse.

Crown Prince Muqruin may well be allied with ISIS/MB.
My guess is Saudi King Abdullah died, feeling betrayed by Barak Hussein Obama - after the Saudis put Obama in the whitehouse.

Saudi shakeup
DEBKA April 29, 2015 -  Saudi King Salman names new heir to the throne in shakeup
In a major generational reshuffle, Saudi King Salman has elevated Mohammed bin Nayef, 55, to Crown Prince instead of Prince Muqirin.  Prince Saud al-Faisal, who served as foreign minister since 1975, was replaced by Adel al-Jubeir, the first non-royal to hold the post. This was a big shift away from the princes favored by the late King Abdullah, whom Salman succeeded in January. The reshuffle may encounter revolt in some of the princes.

Saudi Arabia * War for the throne

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

New Saudi Prince M. Salman
Jun 21, 2017  DEBKA
-  Saudi Arabia's 82-year-old King Salman named his 31-year-old son Mohammed bin Salman as crown prince.  Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was removed from all his posts.  M. Nayef promptly vowed loyalty to his successor after the decree.

M. Salman has accumulated significant influence within the Saudi royal family and in Washington DC.  M. Salman had decided Saudi would go to war in Yemen, and he is currently leading the campaign against Qatar by Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE.

M. Salman is in charge of foreign affairs, defense and economic development, where he has instituted reforms.  He has close ties with the US, especially with President Donald Trump. He led the preparations for Trump's visit to Arabia in May and played a main role in arranging the US declaration of support for the Sunni coalition against Iran.

M. Salman's strong ties with Israeli figures are the basis for Trump's plan for building relations between Israel and moderate Arab states.
