ICELAND Unprecedented cold and snow
18 September 2012

Thousands of sheep (13,000) buried alive in snowdrifts.
Here’s a video showing the rescue of a sheep buried by snow.
Snow in North Iceland in early September is not unheard of but snowfall of two to three meters overnight at this time of year
when the sheep are still in highland pastures is highly unusual.
Although not all have survived, most of these amazingly hardy creatures were alive after days in icy graves.
To make it even more difficult, foxes are attacking the trapped sheep, often leaving them brutally injured.
The association of breeders speaks of unprecedented disaster.

Iceland police shoot and kill suspect
Dec 3, 2013
For the first time in Icelands history police fatally shot a gunman while responding to an incident. Police officers do not carry guns, although special authorities who can be called in as backup often do. Iceland has a low crime rate and low levels of gun violence.
Police in Reykjavik said they had no choice but to open fire on a man who had threatened police by firing a shotgun out of his window. Efforts to apprehend him peacefully failed before a special unit forced their way into his home and opened fire.

Iceland may withdraw EU application
January  6, 2015
-  Iceland is planning to formally withdraw its EU application and lift capitals controls imposed on Iceland by Brussels.  Iceland PM Sigmundur Daviđ Gunnlaugsson said Iceland is going to make a second attempt to withdraw its application to become a member state of the European Union.

Iceland applied for EU membership in July 2009, at a time when the global economic crisis was unraveling.
The negotiations came to a stalemate in April 2013 when the election in Iceland was won by the centrist Progress Party, and the conservative Independence Party. When Progress Party’s Gunnlaugsson became prime minister, he froze negotiations with the EU, largely because of the fish catch quotas insisted on by Brussels – something Iceland’s fishing industry would never agree to.

January 2015 - Greece *may* leave the eu

Whether all this fits into bible prophecy I do NOT know.
I DO NOT like pulling scriptures out of context to apply to what they were not meant to apply to.
GREECE is a very important nation.  Cyprus is Greek.  Both have agreements with GOD's land of Israel.
(Some on TOL wont care, but GOD cares very much.)
I remember in the 1980s a prophecy teacher said the EURO was not worth the paper it was written on.

Iceland makes blasphemy legal

Iceland's parliament has abolished its blasphemy laws, despite opposition from some of the country's churches.

A bill was put forward by the minority Pirate Party, which campaigns for internet and data freedom.

It came after the deadly attack the same month against French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

The bill said it was "essential in a free society that the public can express themselves without fear of punishment".

As three members of the Pirate Party stood before parliament on Thursday, each said: "Je Suis Charlie", an expression used globally to express solidarity with the Charlie Hebdo victims.

After the ruling, the party wrote on its blog (in Icelandic): "Iceland's parliament has now established the important message that freedom will not give in to bloody attacks."

The blasphemy law had been in place since 1940, and anyone found guilty could have been sentenced to a fine or three months in prison.

Iceland's main religions
Lutheran state church: 80%
Other Christian denominations: 5%
Asatru (traditional Norse religion): 5%

The Iceland Monitor website said that the Church of Iceland supported the change, and quoted them as saying that "any legislative powers limiting freedom of expression in this way is at variance with modern-day attitudes towards human rights".

The Catholic Church of Iceland, the Pentecostal Church and the Church of Iceland's eastern province opposed the changes.

The Catholic Church wrote in comments submitted after the bill was proposed: "Should freedom of expression go so far as to mean that the identity of a person of faith can be freely insulted, then personal freedom - as individuals or groups - is undermined."

The Icelandic Ethical Humanist Association said that the new law included provisions to ensure that people could still be prosecuted for hate speech.

Iceland curses Israel
July 3, 2016
 -  Uh oh!  Reykjavik Iceland declares boycott of all Israeli goods in an act of solidarity with Palestinians.  The city council voted in favor of boycotting all Israeli-made products.  Israel condemned the move.

GOD will bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse her.

I will bless those who bless you and curse him who curses you.
Genesis 12:3 applies to ISRAEL the LAND and offspring of Jacob

Iceland banker trial
.  Iceland sentenced ninth banker found guilty of market manipulation that helped caused 2008 crash.  The Supreme Court in Reykjavik returned guilty verdicts for all nine defendants in the Kaupthing Bank market manipulation case, one of the biggest cases of its kind in Iceland's history.

Kaupthing was a major international bank headquartered in Reykjavik. For years it perused overseas expansion plans, but collapsed in 2008 under huge debts.

Their sentences range from 1 to 4 years for crimes relating to misleadingly financing share purchases - the bank lent money for the purchase of the shares and used its own shares as collateral for the loans.
They are also found guilty of creating a misleading demand for Kaupthing shares. Forum Index -> World NEWS
